My Fair Lady (1964)

Directed by: George Cukor
Written by: Alan Jay Lerner, George Bernard Shaw
Tagline: The loverliest motion picture of them all!
Starring: Audrey Hepburn, Rex Harrison

The very first Audrey Hepburn movie I had ever seen. I love everything about this movie except that she doesn't sing at all in it. She can sing perfectly fine, I don't know why they had someone else sing instead. Clearly they didn't see Breakfast at Tiffany's. The songs are so catchy that they stay in your head for hours.

Rex Harrison is beautiful . . . for an old guy. I like the fact that they don't kiss in the end, which would have made for an obvious ending. Clearly they love eachother in the end, but a kiss is just a cliche. It would have been nice because I'm weird and like to watch stuff like that.

I like watching the transformation from flower girl to "move your bloomin' arse" to Hungarian Princess. Audrey is so good at each one of those roles. I love that she isn't the only person to transform in this film. Her father, Alfred Doolittle, is turned into a philosopher of morals.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Rex Harrison is a babe; Audrey Hepburn is made of awesomeness; The music is great (sometimes a little drawn out, but still good); the storyline is fantastic.

This movie was incredibly, and unnecessarily long. It was a wonderful plot, though. It just could have been cut down a little. The songs could have been a little less excessive. Each song felt like they were ten minutes long. But the songs were quite catchy. It's one of the better soundtracks I've heard, compared to other musicals. My favorites were, Wouldn't It Be Loverly?, I Could Have Danced All Night, The Rain In Spain, and I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face.

I enjoyed the love affair between Eliza and Henry. It's interesting, annoying, but totally right on. I thought the Henry Higgins character was quite a dillhole, but who cares; men are all the same, trying to make you into something you're not. Oh, well.

I thought Audrey did a wonderful job on this film. I loved her at the beginning and I loved her at the end. The costumes were beautiful, especially hers. This movie is quite elegant.

This movie is a fantastic classic.
